In My Mailbox (25)
The Lord of the Flies by William Golding
I also just went to an Upward Bound (the college prep program I'm in through Sonoma State) back-to-school kickoff, and in it came a Spanish-English dictionary. It'll be handy because I am taking Spanish.
I know I've barely gotten any books in these past few months, but I'm really trying to get through the ones I already own.
Anyways, have a great Thursday! :D

In My Mailbox (24)
Hey, everyone! I didn't get any physical books this week -- just a couple of e-books. Hence, the non-video.

Goal Line by Tiki & Ronde Barber
Paradox - The Angels Are Here by Patti Roberts

High in their mountain covens, red witches pray to the Goddess, protecting the Witchlands by throwing the bones and foretelling the future.
It’s all a fake.
At least, that’s what Ryder thinks. He doubts the witches really deserve their tithes—one quarter of all the crops his village can produce. And even if they can predict the future, what danger is there to foretell, now that his people’s old enemy, the Baen, has been defeated?
But when a terrifying new magic threatens both his village and the coven, Ryder must confront the beautiful and silent witch who holds all the secrets. Everything he’s ever believed about witches, the Baen, magic and about himself will change, when he discovers that the prophecies he’s always scorned—
Are about him.

In My Mailbox (9)
In My Mailbox is a wonderful meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.
So I realize that Monday is not my usual In My Mailbox day, and that I haven't posted an IMM these past few weeks, because this video was having trouble uploading or something. Anyways, the new IMM day is Thursday, because it will be convenient for me (starting this Thursday, the 10th).

In My Mailbox (8)
Zara and Nick are soul mates, meant to be together forever.
But that's not quite how things have worked out.
For starters, well, Nick is dead.
Supposedly, he's been taken to a mythic place for warriors known as Valhalla, so Zara and her friends might be able to get him back. But it's taking time, and meanwhile a group of evil pixies is devastating Bedford, with more teens going missing every day. An all-out war seems imminent, and the good guys need all the warriors they can find. But how to get to Valhalla?
And even if Zara and her friends discover the way, there's that other small problem: Zara's been pixie kissed. When she finds Nick, will he even want to go with her? Especially since she hasn't just turned . . . she's Astley's queen.
I won this from Chick Lit Teens, and it came in the mail only a couple of days after I found out that I won! I was pleasantly surprised.
I'm reading the second book in the series, Captivate, right now, so I can't wait to finish it and read Entice.
I read Need, and loved it. Check out my review here.
That's all I got this week, but I'm expecting a lot more this next week (Daisy Whitney book signing, Book store, Birthday, and Zoe) so I'm 99.78% sure I'll be doing a vlog.
Anyways, I'll see you guys later! :)

In My Mailbox (7)
Sorry, no video this week. I only got one book, so I figured it wasn't really necessary to upload an entire video. I'm also a day late on my post, so . . . sorry about that.
Anyways, this week I got:
Anyways, this week I got:
Whisper by Phoebe Kitanidis
I’d love a cup of coffee. I wish she knew how pretty she was. I wish I could drop this kid in the dryer sometimes. I just want her to be happy. I hope she didn’t find out what Ben said about her. I wish I knew how many calories were in a bite of muffin…
Joy is used to hearing Whispers. She’s used to walking down the street and instantly knowing people’s deepest, darkest desires. She uses this talent for good, to make people happy and give them what they want. But for her older sister, Jessica, the family gift is a curse, and she uses it to make people’s lives—especially Joy’s—miserable. Still, when Joy Hears a frightening whisper from Jessica's own mind, she knows she has to save her sister, even if it means deserting her friends, stealing a car and running away with a boy she barely knows—a boy who may have a dark secret of his own. One last apology:
I know this week is Ellen Hopkins Week, and I had planned on completing a book by Ellen Hopkins each day.
Well, it is Wednesday, and I have yet to complete the first book due to school, studying for finals, homework, and softball conditioning.
Today I am taking a day off of studying to finish Crank, get a review up, and hopefully get ahead on another book.
Thanks for sticking with me in my crazy times!

What happens to the girls nobody sees—the ones who are ignored, mistreated, hidden away? The girls nobody hears when they cry for help?
Fourteen-year-old Luce is one of those lost girls. After her father vanishes in a storm at sea, she is stuck in a grim, gray Alaskan fishing village with her alcoholic uncle. When her uncle crosses an unspeakable line, Luce reaches the depths of despair. Abandoned on the cliffs near her home, she expects to die when she tumbles to the icy, churning waves below. Instead, she undergoes an astonishing transformation and becomes a mermaid.
A tribe of mermaids finds Luce and welcomes her in—all of them, like her, lost girls who surrendered their humanity in the darkest moments of their lives. The mermaids are beautiful, free, and ageless, and Luce is thrilled with her new life until she discovers the catch: they feel an uncontrollable desire to drown seafarers, using their enchanted voices to lure ships into the rocks.
Luce’s own talent at singing captures the attention of the tribe’s queen, the fierce and elegant Catarina, and Luce soon finds herself pressured to join in committing mass murder. Luce’s struggle to retain her inner humanity puts her at odds with her friends; even worse, Catarina seems to regard Luce as a potential rival.
But the appearance of a devious new mermaid brings a real threat to Catarina’s leadership and endangers the very existence of the tribe. Can Luce find the courage to challenge the newcomer, even at the risk of becoming rejected and alone once again?

Yes, I know,
I tweeted that I was going to actually film an In My Mailbox this week. But, I suck, and I didn't, so all you have is a picture of the book that I got. :P
I only bought one book this week because Christmas is just a couple of days away, and I should (hopefully) be receiving a lot of books.
Anyways, I won The Lost Saint by Bree Despain from Brooke Reviews (it hasn't come in the mail yet) but I haven't read The Dark Divine yet. So, I figured I might as well pick it up.
And I did.
At the HUGE Colorado bookstore. ;)
Here's a pretty picture of the pretty cover.
A Prodigal Son
A Dangerous Love
A Deadly Secret
Grace Divine—daughter of the local pastor—always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared and her brother Jude came home covered in his own blood.
Now that Daniel's returned, Grace must choose between her growing attraction to him and her loyalty to her brother.

In My Mailbox (3)
I didn't have time to do a vlog this week, because everythuing's been craaaaaazy. And I know I'm posting a day later than my usual IMM day, but I had absolutely no time yesterday.
Anyways, these are the books I got this week.
For Review:
This is a blood-pumping, white-knuckle sci-fi thriller of epic proportions. The FAYZ goes from bad to worse . . .
Anyways, these are the books I got this week.
For Review:
"Listen. The Sanctuary of the Redeemers on Shotover Scarp is named after a damned lie for there is no redemption that goes on there and less sanctuary."
The Sanctuary of the Redeemers is a vast and desolate place - a place without joy or hope. Most of its occupants were taken there as boys and for years have endured the brutal regime of the Lord Redeemers whose cruelty and violence have one singular purpose - to serve in the name of the One True Faith.
In one of the Sanctuary's vast and twisting maze of corridors stands a boy. He is perhaps fourteen or fifteen years old - he is not sure and neither is anyone else. He has long-forgotten his real name, but now they call him Thomas Cale. He is strange and secretive, witty and charming, violent and profoundly bloody-minded. He is so used to the cruelty that he seems immune, but soon he will open the wrong door at the wrong time and witness an act so terrible that he will have to leave this place, or die.
His only hope of survival is to escape across the arid Scablands to Memphis, a city the opposite of the Sanctuary in every way: breathtakingly beautiful, infinitely Godless, and deeply corrupt.
But the Redeemers want Cale back at any price… not because of the secret he now knows but because of a much more terrifying secret he does not.
This doesn't look like a book I would normally read, but I'm excited to read this. I'll be expanding my book horizons. :) It seems really interesting, too!

From Zoe:
This is a blood-pumping, white-knuckle sci-fi thriller of epic proportions. The FAYZ goes from bad to worse . . .The darkness has been foiled once again and the resurrected Drake has been contained. But the streets of Perdido Beach are far from safe, with a growing army of mutants fighting against the humans for power in the town. In a small room of a house near the edge of town, Little Pete lies ill on a bed. In his fevered dreams, he continues his battle with the hidden evil that seeks to use his power to bring about anarchy and destruction.
Yes! I finally got this!!!!!!
I've been wanting to read this for FOREVER.
I'm going to have to re-read the other books to refresh my memory, but AHHH! I'm so EXCITED!!! :D
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees. . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what it is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place--and out of place, at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make--between honesty and deciet, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
I wanted this book reeeally badly. Zoe's letting me borrow the ARC, and I'm superdupertuper excited to read this. This book also got a ton of great reviews.
I'll be taking this with me to Colorado.

Beware of a kiss under the full moon. It will change your life forever.
Celeste Parker is used to hearing scary stories about werewolves—Legend's Run is famous for them. She's used to everything in the small town until Brandon Maddox moves to Legend's Run and Celeste finds herself immediately drawn to the handsome new student. But when, after an unnerving visit with a psychic, she encounters a pack of wolves and gorgeous, enigmatic Brandon, she must discover whether his transformation is more than legend or just a trick of the shadows in the moonlight.
Her best friends may never forgive her if she gives up her perfect boyfriend, Nash, for Brandon, who's from the wrong side of town. But she can't deny her attraction or the strong pull he has on her. Brandon may be Celeste's hero, or he may be the most dangerous creature she could encounter in the woods of Legend's Run.
Psychic predictions, generations-old secrets, a town divided, and the possibility of falling in love with a hot and heroic werewolf are the perfect formula for what happens . . . once in a full moon.
I've read the first book, Vampire Kisses, in Ellen's other series, and it was pretty good. So I'm excited to read this book and see how she switches it up from her other series and writes about werewolves.
*And I also got a pretty Dark Divine bookmark!
Yaaaay, swag!
That's all I got this week. Feel free to link below what's in YOUR mailbox. :)
