"Waiting On" Wednesday (28)

The Thing About the Truth by Lauren Barnholdt

Sixteen-year-old Kelsey Romano has always been one of the most popular girls at Concordia Prep. But after a disastrous breakup and her subsequent meltdown (um, destruction of school property, anyone?) she's kicked out of Con Prep and shipped off to Concordia High School, for good.

Seventeen-year-old Isaac Brandano has been kicked out of more prep schools than he can name. But now that his father's State Senate campaign is pushing a public school agenda, Isaac finds himself enrolled at Concordia High.

Kelsey and Isaac are destined to hate each other. And at first, they do. But when they are forced together on the creation of a new school club, sparks begin to fly. Then the club's critical event turns into chaos. Now Kelsey and Isaac must retrace their steps and figure out how and why everything got so got screwed up, who was to blame, and how they can move forward.

This new novel from fan-favorite Lauren Barnholdt showcases--through a sweet and sparkly narrative--how the last person you expect might just be the one who changes your life forever.

Release Date: July 10, 2012

I haven't read a book by Lauren Barnholdt and not liked it, which is partly why I am so excited for this book. Moreover, she always has killer plot-lines, characters, and the book covers rock!

This book looks soooo good!

Does this seem like a total heart-felt romance, or what? I already can't wait to read this book and get butterflies. Hell, I was smiling while reading the synopsis. Um, hello? British boy with accent? Get me on THAT flight, please!
I. CAN'T. WAIT. :)

"Waiting On" Wednesday (26)

Yes, I do realize that it is Thursday. ;)

Fear by Michael Grant

Synopsis to come.

But . . . to replace the synopsis, I have found ten spoilers about this book!

10 spoilers from Michael Grant:
1) Remember that it was originally titled DARKNESS.
2) At one point Sam will rub Diana's tummy.
3) Astrid-haters will love her by the end.
4) There's a surprising "coming out."
5)... A heart will be broken.
6) You will learn why Sam and not Caine.
7) There is a huge betrayal.
8) Someone will lose their virginity.
9) Someone we know will die.
10) A scene so dark and anguished my editors wanted me to tone it down. (Of course I didn't. How long have you known me?)

Release Date: April 3, 2012

If you know me at all, you know that I am a crazy GONE fan-freak. I'm absolutely in love with the series, and it's one of my absolute favorites. There are always crazy twist-and-turns in the books, and after reading the spoilers I absolutely CANNOT wait to read the fifth installment of this series.

Excuse me. I'm going to go dream about this book now.

"Waiting On" Wednesday (24)

Where It Began by Ann Redish Stampler

Gabby Gardiner wakes up in a hospital bed looking like a cautionary ad for drunk driving and lacking a single memory of the accident that landed her there. What she can remember, in frank and sardonic detail, is the year leading up to the accident.

As she takes us through her transformation from invisible girl to on-trend Girl Who Dates Billy Nash (aka Most Desirable Boy Ever), she is left wondering: Why is Billy suddenly distancing himself from her? What do her classmates know that Gabby herself does not? Who exactly was in the car that night? And why is Gabby left alone to take the fall?

Putting the pieces together will take every ounce of Gabby's strength. As she peels back the layers of her life, she begins to realize that her climb up the status ladder has been as intoxicating as it has been morally complex . . . and that nothing about her life is what she has imagined it to be.

Release Date: July 5, 2011

OH. MY. GOODNESS.

I'm with everyone else when I say, "but she ended the series so nicely at the end of book eight. How can the story go on from there?"

But, this is the first time I've seen the cover or read the synopsis, and I just couldn't help but share it with you guys (hence, the WoW .5 post). I am incredibly excited to read this (um, hello, it's SARA SHEPARD) and reading the synopsis has gotten me even more excited.

My only concern is that it won't live up to the first eight books, but with Shepard's writing talent, I doubt that will happen.

I've already pre-ordered it off of Amazon (you can do so also here.) and I will be counting down the days until July.

I'd better start re-reading the series!

Happy reading!

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger

Most school sports teams have rivalries with other schools. At Hamilton High, it’s a civil war: the football team versus the soccer team. And for her part, Lissa is sick of it. Her quarterback boyfriend, Randy, is always ditching her to go pick a fight with the soccer team or to prank their locker room. And on three separate occasions Randy’s car has been egged while he and Lissa were inside, making out. She is done competing with a bunch of sweaty boys for her own boyfriend’s attention.

Lissa decides to end the rivalry once and for all: She and the other players’ girlfriends go on a hookup strike. The boys won’t get any action from them until the football and soccer teams make peace. I haven't read Kody's debut novel, The DUFF, but it is in my TBR pile, and I'm sure my friends Zoe will be forcing meto read it soon. ;)

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

For budding costume designer Lola Nolan, the more outrageous, the outfit—more sparkly, more fun, more wild—the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins move back into the house next door.

When the family returns and Cricket—a gifted inventor and engineer—steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Release Date: September 29, 2011

I just recently finished Anna and the French Kiss, Stephanie Perkins' debut novel, and I adored it. Basically, if that was her debut, I can't wait to see what she dishes out with Lola and the Boy Next Door

Upon reading the synopsis, they seem like fluff reads, but really, they have a lot more depth --- which I love.

September 29th should be a great day. :)

From Bad To Cursed by Katie Alender

But then Kasey tells Alexis about the mysterious new club she has joined, and the oath she has taken to someone named Aralt. Worried that Kasey's gotten in over her head again, Alexis and her best friend Megan decide to investigate by joining the Sunshine Club, too. At first, their connection with Aralt seems harmless. Still, despite the Sunshine Club's outward perfection, the group is crumbling from within, and soon Alexis finds herself battling her own personal demons. She can hardly even remember why she joined in the first place. Surely it wasn't to destroy Aralt...why would she hurt someone who has given her so much, and asked for so little in return?

Release Date: June 14, 2011

When I finished the first book, Bad Girls Don't Die (which I LOVED, by the way), I had NO clue there was going to be a sequel.

So, when I came across this book on Goodreads, I'm pretty sure I screamed. Repeatedly.

Anyways, I can't wait to continue with Alexis's story.

JUNE 14TH GET HERE FASTER, PLEASE!!!!!

Without Luke, Abby’s not sure how she’d make it through her first year of high school. Everyone, including her mom and her best friend, Faith, tells Abby that if she just made more of an effort, she’d be having fun instead of dreading each and every day as if it’s a prison sentence. Best of all, he really loves her. So what if she never goes out with her friends anymore and her grades are slipping? All she needs is Luke. Luke is her secret, and she’s his — it’s perfect that way. So when Luke suggests that they meet each other in person, Abby agrees. And then she’s gone. Missing. Without a trace. And everyone is left to put together the pieces. If they don’t, they’ll never see Abby again.

Release Date: August 11, 2011

This book looks absolutely amazing. It seems dark and intriguing, and for whatever reason, reminds me of Elizabeth Scott's Living Dead Girl, which I loved. I haven't read any of Littman's other books, but I've heard really great things about them, and they have fantastic ratings.

I'll be sure to pick up this book when it comes out, but until then, I'll occupy myself with some of Sarah Darer Littman's other books. :)

"Waiting On Wednesday" (10)

Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky

Maddie lives in a world where everything is done on the computer. Whether it’s to go to school or on a date, people don’t venture out of their home. There’s really no need. For the most part, Maddie’s okay with the solitary, digital life—until she meets Justin. Justin likes being with people. He enjoys the physical closeness of face-to-face interactions. People aren’t meant to be alone, he tells her.

Suddenly, Maddie feels something awakening inside her—a feeling that maybe there is a different, better way to live. But with society and her parents telling her otherwise, Maddie is going to have to learn to stand up for herself if she wants to change the path her life is taking.
In this not-so-brave new world, two young people struggle to carve out their own space.

This book seems really awesome! I like the dystopian factor that seems to go along with it; not to mention that the cover is GORGEOUS.

I really can't wait to read Awaken.
