Fixing Delilah by Sarah Ockler

Things in Delilah Hannaford's life have a tendency to fall apart.
She used to be a good student, but she can't seem to keep it together anymore. Her "boyfriend" isn't much of a boyfriend. And her mother refuses to discuss the fight that divided their family eight years ago. Falling apart, it seems, is a Hannaford tradition.

Over a summer of new friendships, unexpected romance, and moments that test the complex bonds between mothers and daughters, Delilah must face her family's painful past. Can even her most shattered relationships be pieced together again?

Delilah Hannaford is always getting in trouble at home. She steals from stores, her grades are declining, and she constantly fights with her mom. When she gets a call that her grandma (who she and her mom haven't talked to for eights years because of the fight they got in) dies, they have to go to her grandma's house in Vermont to spend the summer there, and prepare the house to be sold, and spread Grandma Hannaford's ashes.

While in Vermont, Delilah makes new friends, and reunites with her best friend from when she was little, Patrick. As Delilah discovers her family secrets, she also starts falling for Patrick.

I must say, I usually don't like to read books like this. I'm very glad that I did, though, because this book was amazing. I found myself flying through the book, wanting to know what happens next to Delilah, her friends, and her family.

When Delilah learned the answers to some secrets about her family, I'm sure I was as shocked as she was!

One of my favorite quotes from this entire book was after Delilah went to go see Patrick play guitar and sing at the open mic night thing that the local cafe.

"You were stellar tonight," I say, "Seriously. How do you do it? Don't you get nervous?"

"Sure, but then I remind myself that no matter how many people are in the crowd, I'm only singing for one."

Isn't that the cutest thing? Haha.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I definitely plan on re-reading this sometime soon!
